Lessons from 25 Years in Infrastructure Leadership
In 2020, I took on a leadership role in a national-level digital education initiative that remains one of the most impactful projects I’ve led. As the Chief Operating Officer of Light of Hope Ltd., I served as the official signatory and principal point of contact in a formal agreement with UNICEF Bangladesh. Our objective was to design and implement a gamified e-learning platform focused on Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) for secondary school-aged students across the country.
The Challenge
Topics like reproductive health, emotional development, and physical changes are often underrepresented or sensitively handled in traditional classrooms. In partnership with UNICEF and key government agencies, we set out to create an engaging, curriculum-aligned digital platform that could deliver this content safely and effectively to adolescents both in and out of school.
What We Built
Through Light of Hope, we developed a bilingual (Bangla and English), device-independent, and offline-accessible digital learning platform. The platform was structured around four “mega games,” each focused on a different area of adolescent development:
1. Food Game – Focused on nutrition and body changes through food selection gameplay.
2. Shooting Game – Taught reproductive health and safe practices via racing and shooting mechanics.
3. Be a Star – Offered fitness and confidence-building tools based on BMI analysis.
4. Happiness Game – Helped users manage emotions, stress, and relationships through personality quizzes and simulations.
Each module was designed with age- and gender-sensitive UX, interactive storylines, assessments, and progress tracking. Learners could earn certifications as they completed courses, and educators could monitor engagement and outcomes.
My Role
As project lead, I managed the full project lifecycle—from strategic design and curriculum alignment to game development, testing, deployment, and post-launch support. I oversaw a multidisciplinary team of educators, developers, designers, and researchers. I also coordinated directly with UNICEF, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, and the National Curriculum and Textbook Board to ensure our solution aligned with national education priorities.
Timeline and Impact
• Project Duration: January 2020 – December 2022
• Maintenance Period: Full academic year post-launch
• Stakeholders: UNICEF Bangladesh, Ministry of Education, Light of Hope Ltd.
• Reach: Secondary school-aged adolescents nationwide (in-school and out-of-school)
This initiative not only brought life-skills education to thousands of adolescents, but also established a model for how digital innovation can solve culturally complex educational challenges at scale.
⸻
This project exemplifies the kind of work I strive to lead—mission-driven, socially impactful, and scalable. Combining educational integrity with engaging technology allowed us to build something meaningful, lasting, and replicable for the future of learning.
